To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what steps he is taking to help protect cultural sites in the Middle East.

The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport announced on 21st June that the Government is developing a new cultural protection fund that will support the protection of cultural heritage of countries affected by conflict or at risk of coming under attack for ideological reasons. The Government will bring forward legislation to allow ratification of the Hague Convention at the earliest opportunity.
