Proceeding contribution from Chris Huhne (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 11 January 2012. It occurred during Opposition day on Energy Prices.
Energy Prices
I will let the right hon. Lady know the information as soon as we have it. When it is available, I will write to her. It is important to get the message across that households can save money not only by switching supplier, but by using less energy. Insulating lofts and walls can cut energy bills. The six largest energy suppliers all offer free or cut-price insulation, yet many households still have not taken up the offer. That is why the Government are writing to 4 million of the most vulnerable energy customers to tell them that they are eligible for free or heavily discounted loft or cavity wall insulation, and I am pleased to say that the initiative has been funded by suppliers.
