Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, what grants or other assistance have been given or promised by his Department or by the European Commission to (a) Ford and (b) its suppliers in connection with the new manufacturing and assembly lines for the Baby Jag. - Includes figures.

[63985] Mr. Battle: To secure the X400 investment for Halewood, Jaguar--a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company--was offered a support package made up of £40 million Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) and up to a £3 million contribution from the local partners. No offer of support has been made to the suppliers for the X400 project.
