- To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change when he expects (a) the smart metering home area network tests to be undertaken and (b) the conclusions of those tests to be published.
- Answer

The smart metering home area networking (HAN) trials are being undertaken currently. The results of the trials will be used as evidence to support the evaluation of HAN standards. Proposals on the Government's policy on future HAN standards are expected to be published in a consultation on the Smart Metering Equipment Technical Specifications, over the summer.
