Departmental officials meet on a regular basis with patient organisations, integrated care boards and other stakeholders to discuss the improvement of National Health Service care for a range of conditions. External meetings of that nature held by ministers and senior officials are reported on a quarterly basis in the Department’s transparency publications.

The Public Appointments Diversity and Outreach Strategy 2026 outlines how the Ministry of Justice will improve diversity, fairness and transparency in public appointments through strengthened outreach, recruitment processes and data-driven decision making. The Department will assess progress biannually, with a full evaluation in 2028.

Agriculture is devolved. Defra administers farming policy in England, while the Scottish Government, Welsh Government and Northern Ireland Executive determine their own agricultural policies and support schemes. As part of this arrangement, funding for agriculture and fisheries was baselined and un-ringfenced in each devolved governments block grant from 2024-25.
The Barnett formula, which aims to give each country the same pounds-per-person change in funding, will apply to any future changes in UK Government funding from 2025-26 for agriculture and fisheries in the usual way. This is the normal operation of funding arrangements for the devolved governments. It is for devolved governments to allocate funding as they see fit and they are accountable to their devolved legislatures for those decisions.
The Government is acting in England to support farmers and give them clarity to plan and invest. The recently published Farming Roadmap and Farming Profitability Review response set out a range of short-term and long-term actions. These include investment in ELM funding, support for and investment in innovation and technology, and action to make supply chains fairer. The government has also established the Farming and Food Partnership Board, bringing together senior leaders from farming, food, retail and finance to drive profitability and strengthen food security. Defra continues to cooperate openly and transparently with devolved government colleagues on these frameworks – as well as ongoing policy development across the four nations - via informal and formal structures established under the Common Framework for Agricultural Support.

The proposals aim to maintain fairness in the tax system and address a gap in existing debt enforcement tools, by collecting lower value tax debts from taxpayers who can pay but do not engage. The consultation on proposals to tackle lower value tax debts closed on 28 August. The Government is currently analysing responses received and will use this to inform next steps, including whether and how the proposal should be taken forward.

The consultation on the draft statutory guidance under the Down Syndrome Act 2022 closed on 30 March 2026. The Government is required to carefully consider the responses received to inform the final guidance to be published.
In the meantime, relevant authorities remain bound by existing legal duties. The act brings together existing statutory requirements and guidance that relevant authorities must and/or should already comply with to support people with Down syndrome.
Under the Equality Act 2010, health and social care organisations must make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled people are not disadvantaged and must have due to regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty when exercising their functions. NHS England statutory guidance, published on 9 May 2023, also states that every integrated care board (ICB) should identify a board member to lead on supporting the ICB to perform its functions effectively in the interest of people with Down syndrome.

This Government is committed to ensuring that everyone, no matter their background, can thrive. To support this, we will commence the socio-economic duty. We are currently working towards commencement, which includes drafting statutory guidance that will clarify how the duty can be applied effectively. We will provide an update in due course.

The government wants to make sure that children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can receive the support they need to achieve and thrive in their local school, but we know that there will always be a vital role for special schools and specialist post-16 provision for children with the most complex needs.
Local authorities have a statutory duty to provide sufficient school places, including for pupils with SEND.
The department is supporting local authorities by investing at least £3.7 billion in high needs capital funding between 2025/26 and 2029/30, to support local authorities to provide places for children and young people with SEND or those requiring alternative provision. We expect that local authorities will prioritise investing this funding in specialist bases in mainstream schools to achieve a more inclusive system overall, but there will still be some areas where new special school places are needed.

Through our 10-Year Health Plan, we are committed to tackling the social determinants of health, improving healthy life expectancy for everyone, and halving the gap between the richest and poorest regions. By bringing together departments across the Government, we are ensuring that action on health is embedded in policies that shape people’s daily lives. Recent cross-Government action includes the Warm Homes Plan, the Keep Britain Working Review, and the Homelessness Strategy.
Reducing inequalities is hard‑wired throughout the Renewed Women’s Health Strategy. Actions are targeted by deprivation, ethnicity, and unmet need, with a focus on marginalised women, community‑based services, neighbourhood health models, and transparent data. Many initiatives explicitly prioritise areas with the highest inequality first, rather than relying on universal rollout alone.

During the 2025 calendar year, the Office for Equality and Opportunity publicly marked a variety of different days, which can be seen through communications materials and social media content. The EHRC is an independent arm’s length body that is operationally independent of the Government. As such, it is for the EHRC to decide on how it allocates its budget and operational activity including in relation to external communications marking significant themed days, weeks or months.
