That this House notes the Government's proposals to extend the M4 relief road from Magor to Castleton through the Gwent Levels; notes that the Gwent Levels have been designated sites of special scientific interest and are the natural habitat of many endangered plants and animals; believes that the building of the road would lead to the decimation of this environment and the extinction of much of this wildlife; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to consider alternative plans for relieving congestion in the area, such as improving the existing public transport and improving existing roads where possible.
