FCO Consular officials have sent a list of questions from the family to the Dutch Prosecutor leading on the case and have been advised that the Dutch authorities will provide the Moran family with answers to their questions. Officials are also helping the family to arrange a meeting with the Prosecutor and a representative from the police team.

FCO Consular officials have requested documents from the Dutch authorities on behalf of the Liverpool Coroner. They have already passed a copy of the post mortem report to the coroner and have asked the Dutch authorities for an update on the remaining documents.

I remain concerned about reports of unrest in Indian-administered Kashmir. Any allegations of human rights abuses should be investigated thoroughly, promptly and transparently. We have previously raised concerns, most recently when I met Foreign Minister Akbar on 16 March this year.

Following the conclusion of the Baha Mousa Inquiry, the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT) were directed by the then Secretary of State to reinvestigate his death. The investigation into the death of Baha Mousa remains ongoing. This is a criminal investigation and it would be inappropriate to provide any further details.
The death of Tariq Sabri al-Fahdawi (also known as Tariq Sabri Mahmud) was not investigated by the IHAT, which forwarded the result of their review of the original Royal Air Force Police investigation to the Provost Marshal (Royal Air Force) on 8 March 2012. The further investigation initiated by the RAF Police has been completed, and the Service Prosecution Authority has decided that no-one should face charges in this case.

We are unable to estimate accurately the air quality impacts resulting from Volkwagen’s actions as we cannot quantify the additional emissions of the affected vehicles under all conditions of operation.
However we have made a comparison of the old software to the new ‘fix’ software under test track conditions. The results from tests on two Skoda vehicles indicate 30-40% lower NOx emissions with the new ‘fix’ software.

In 2010 the Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants published the report “The Mortality Effects of Long-Term Exposure to Particulate Air Pollution in the United Kingdom”, which concluded, using 2008 data, that the 2008 burden of man-made particulate matter air pollution is, an effect on mortality equivalent to nearly 29,000 deaths in the UK.
In 2014 a Public Health England (PHE) report estimated the annual mortality burden attributable to long-term exposure to man-made particulate air pollution as being equivalent to 25,000 deaths in England.
Estimates of the fraction of mortality attributable to long-term exposure to man-made particulate air pollution for local authority areas in England (2010-15) are provided by the Public Health Outcomes Framework indicator 3.01.,available to view here:

The question of compensation is a matter for the Turkish courts. We have emphasised to the Turkish government the need to respect human rights and avoid civilian casualties in the course of military operations.
