22-26 Whitehall has 825 desk work settings. The site is used by multiple Government departments, and official figures have not yet been updated following the creation of the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade.

On 30 June 2026, 22-26 Whitehall had 998 active DSIT civil servants as their contracted office location.

While some out-of-area placements are necessary to meet a child's individual needs or keep them safe, we know that living far from support networks can affect stability and wellbeing, disrupting relationships with family, friends and trusted professionals, undermining educational continuity and making it harder for children to maintain important community connections.

We are also investing £560 million to expand children's homes and foster care capacity and developing regional care cooperatives to help more children, including girls at risk of exploitation and abuse, access safe, high-quality care closer to home.

Following actions taken by this government, England currently has the highest number of fully qualified general practitioners (GPs) since 2015.

We want to go further than this, and that’s why thousands more GPs are being trained to expand capacity further. The number of GP training places has been expanded by 250, taking the total number of available places to 4250 for 2025/26, and we plan to expand this again for 2026/27. Current and future expansions to post-graduate training, including foundation training and GP specialty training, have been planned on the basis of relative need, balanced with ability of locations to support trainees.

There has long been criticism that the way GP funding is allocated across England (the Carr-Hill formula), is considered outdated. This is why we are reviewing the Carr-Hill formula, to ensure funding for core services is distributed equitably between practices across the country. The first phase of the review is expected to conclude in March 2026.

Following feedback from the 2026/27 GP contract consultation, this Government is introducing a practice-level GP reimbursement scheme using £292 million of repurposed funding from the current Capacity and Access Payment. This funding will be available to practices to hire additional GPs or fund additional sessions with existing GPs to improve access to general practice. The funding is equivalent to 1600 FTE GPs nationally and aims to strengthen capacity, access, and improve patient satisfaction, whilst also addressing GP unemployment and underemployment.

We are also increasing the flexibility of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) by removing the restriction that ARRS funding can only be used for recently qualified GPs, increasing the maximum reimbursement amount for GP roles to reflect experience, and enabling primary care networks to recruit a broader range of ARRS roles, where agreed with the commissioner.

The R&R Client Board (the two House Commissions meeting jointly) published a report, Delivering restoration and renewal of the Palace of Westminster: the costed proposals, on 5 February 2026. Chapters 4 to 6 provide preliminary information on catering proposals under the different R&R options (full decant; enhanced maintenance and improvement (two variants); and continued presence).

The Client Board has recommended that two options—the full decant and enhanced maintenance and improvement plus (EMI+) options—are taken forward for development alongside a package of phase one works.

Under the full decant option, the House of Lords would decant into the QEII Conference Centre (subject to negotiation), although there would be an ongoing need for the Southern Estate (Millbank House and Fielden House) to accommodate some Members’ offices and House business areas that do not need to be close to the temporary Chamber. In the QEII, catering would be provided for Members and staff although this would be reduced compared to the current provision. There would not be dedicated banqueting facilities. Multi-functional meeting rooms could be used to host member-sponsored events.

Under full decant, the House of Commons would decant to the Northern Estate on a phased basis. Catering provision would be reduced compared to current provision although Richmond House would accommodate a Members’ Tearoom adjacent to the Commons Chamber throughout the Programme. Catering would also be available in Portcullis House, 1 Parliament Street and Norman Shaw North. There would be no bar or banqueting facilities.

The EMI+ option has an objective to decant not more than 30% of the Palace (by usable area) at any one time. The House of Lords would decant into the QEII Conference Centre and the House of Commons, subject to the agreement of the House of Lords, would use the Lords Chamber while work was taking place on the Commons Chamber, for up to two years. Catering for the Lords in the QEII Centre would be the same as under the full decant option and there would again be an ongoing need for the Southern Estate.

Under EMI+, Commons catering facilities in the Palace would be refurbished on a zonal basis and would each be closed for several years. While these facilities are being refurbished there would be a reduction in Commons catering provision. The current catering facilities on the Northern Estate, including in Portcullis House, would remain available (except for the café in Richmond House) and new catering facilities would be available in Norman Shaw North. The only Commons catering facility within the Palace that would remain open throughout the entirety of the R&R works would be the Jubilee Café, which is accessible to the public and would be refurbished outside of standard operating hours.

These catering proposals are at a relatively early stage of development and the specifics will be subject to further consultation with Member bodies, including domestic committees.

Discussions are underway to use the Cameron Barracks site for asylum accommodation. Consideration of this site is ongoing and any final decision to utilise any site for the intended purposes will be made once the relevant factors have been properly considered.

The government remains committed to engaging with local authorities and stakeholders, and to transitioning away from hotel use as soon as practicable.

Cabinet routinely takes place in No10 Downing Street as has been the case under successive governments. There are currently no plans for Cabinet to take place across the UK, but that is kept under review.

The Strategic Defence Review committed to build at least six new energetics and munitions factories in the UK. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is currently developing a plan to deliver this commitment alongside our wider Defence Industrial Strategy, delivering long-term investment to boost UK growth and generating skilled UK jobs and export opportunities. The MOD is carefully considering arrangements for those factories including potential locations, and more detail will be set out in due course. It is currently considered to be premature to discuss specific proposals or sites until the necessary preparatory work has concluded.

The Department and NHS England have written to integrated care boards (ICBs) and local authorities to invite applications from local places to participate in the National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme (NNHIP). As part of this, we have requested initial information on local assets that could host neighbourhood health centres (NHCs). ICBs will be key here as strategic commissioners in identifying where NHCs are required and defining their requirements in the context of other supporting infrastructure in the local area.

Applications should be submitted by 8 August 2025; our 10-Year Health Plan sets out we will start in some of the communities where healthy life expectancy is lowest, delivering healthcare closer to home for those that need it the most.

The Government is committed to delivering a National Health Service that is fit for the future, and we recognise that delivering high quality NHS healthcare requires the right infrastructure in the right places.

That is why over the course of our 10-Year Health Plan, we will establish over 200 neighbourhood health centres nationwide, with 40 to 50 expected over the course of this Parliament.

We will start in some of the most deprived communities, using public capital to update and refurbish existing, under-used buildings, delivering healthcare closer to home for those that need it the most.

On 14 May, the Government announced it will be:

• Strengthening its presence in 13 cross Government locations across the UK.

• Ensuring that 50% of UK-based SCS are located outside of London by 2030.

• Strengthening the talent pipeline by launching a new apprenticeship programme, setting an ambition for 50% of Fast Stream roles to be based outside London by 2030, and committing to develop and launch a local government interchange programme in partnership with the Local Government Association (LGA).

• Reducing the number of Civil Service buildings in London, closing 11 buildings by 2030 to deliver £94m in savings per year.

• Launching two new thematic campuses, an Energy Campus in Aberdeen and a Digital & AI Innovation Campus in Manchester.

In June, the Government announced that Places for Growth existing thematic campuses in Darlington, Sheffield and Leeds will be leading a new approach to bring together policy makers with those on the frontline to support mission delivery.
