Mr. Gareth R. Thomas: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if she will make a statement on support from the United

Mrs. Humble: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if she will make a statement on support from the United States
Administration for the peace process in Northern Ireland. [5918]
Dr. Mowlam: The United States administration share this Government's wish to see an end to all violence in Northern Ireland and to
reach a lasting political settlement which has the broad support of people on both sides of the community. My right hon. Friend the
Prime Minster and the President continue to discuss developments in Northern Ireland on a regular basis. We are grateful for the
close personal interest that the President has taken, and for the valuable work of Senator George Mitchell in the Talks process.
