It is not possible to estimate the number of kit or replica cars on the road since registration figures are not readily available for such manufacturers. As a result we are unable to estimate the proportion of vehicle emissions they produce.

The Department actively engaged with the motor manufacturing industry while developing the proposals in this consultation, which closed on Friday March 2nd. We did not hold specific discussions with kit car or replica car manufacturers, or estimate the number of people employed in this particular sector of the industry. All responses to the consultation, from all sectors, will be carefully considered in shaping the government’s policy and the final regulatory measures.
