The Minister for Crime, Policing and Fire has prioritised engagement with the sector on integrity matters. This has included Chief Fire Officers, Fire and Rescue Authority Chairs, His Majesty’s Inspectorate, the National Fire Chiefs Council, the Local Government Association and representative groups such as the Fire Brigades Union. In addition to regularly meeting frontline firefighters and police officers when visiting fire and police stations.
He will continue to meet with sector leaders to hear first-hand on these issues.
The Minister for Crime, Policing and Fire has corresponded with both current and former staff in fire and rescue services, who have raised concerns regarding bullying, harassment, and discrimination.

We are actively working to improve the helpline service and do encourage those who are able to access IT to make contact with the service by completing an online application form or sending us information via email.
VRS currently has around 40 caseworkers who divide their time between triage services, including answering the public phone line, processing online application forms and progressing cases to return.

The number of asylum decisions made per decision maker per week (1) in the first two months of 2023 and (2) in the last quarter of 2022 is not routinely published, as it is not held in a reportable format.

The rise in the number of small boat crossings has placed significant pressures on the asylum system. We take the safety and welfare of those in our care seriously and the Home Office has robust safeguarding procedures in place to ensure those in our accommodation are as safe and supported as possible as we seek urgent placements with a local authority.

Individual National Health Service employers are responsible for planning local staffing levels in line with service priorities, including providing care to people living with Parkinson’s disease.
A Parkinson’s Disease Hub has been established in Hull, supported by a specialist nurse, physiotherapist and multidisciplinary team co-ordinator with regular meetings and educational talks with healthcare professionals to improve knowledge and confidence in supporting people living with Parkinson’s disease. The Chair of NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and representatives of Parkinson’s UK are scheduled to meet by the end of the year to discuss approaches to Parkinson’s care in the region.
We have also expanded the number of postgraduate neurology training posts in England by 10 from August 2022 and since September 2020, provided all eligible students with a non-repayable training grant of a minimum of £5,000 per academic year.
