That this House congratulates Mrs Violeta Chamorro on her victory in the elections in Nicaragua; notes the enormous problems which her government will face to rebuild the economy after 10 years of mismanagement by the previous Marxist government; calls on Her Majesty's Government to use its best efforts to persuade the countries of Central and North America to unite in bringing peace and prosperity to the region; and further calls on the Government to now consider a package of economic aid to Nicaragua, especially to the English-speaking Atlantic coastal region which was recently devastated by a hurricane.
