To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent discussions he has had with Ministers in the Scottish Government on the delivery of superfast broadband to the Highlands and Islands.

The Government has made £100 million available to the Scottish Government to deliver rural broadband projects in Scotland. It is the responsibility of the Scottish Government to deliver on this and we are closely monitoring the roll-out of these projects.
The UK Government are committed to delivering the best superfast broadband network in Europe by 2015. As part of that, the Scottish Government were allocated more than £100 million to support broadband improvements. It is now the responsibility of the Scottish Government to deliver on this investment by the UK Government.
