Air ambulances are not directly funded by the National Health Service. However, the Government has provided significant and sustained support to the sector. In 2019, the Department launched a three year capital grant programme which allocated £10 million to nine air ambulance charities across England, of which London’s Air Ambulance Charity and Barts Health NHS Trust received £1,393,552.
In addition, the Department provided £6 million of COVID-19 emergency funding to all 21 air ambulance charities across the United Kingdom, to ensure that each charity could continue to provide their life-saving services during the pandemic. London’s Air Ambulance Charity received £252,500 of this funding.
There are no current plans to provide further funding to the sector which operates through a longstanding and successful charitable model.

The Government has more than trebled annual funding of minimum wage enforcement since 2014.
All businesses, irrespective of size or business sector, are responsible for paying the correct minimum wage to their staff. The Government is determined that everyone who is entitled to the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) receives it.
Anyone who feels they have been underpaid NMW or NLW should contact the Acas helpline on 0300 123 1100. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) review all complaints that are referred to them. Additionally, HMRC collate and analyse data from various sources in order to identify those employers who are potentially more likely to be underpaying NMW or NLW, so that they can undertake targeted enforcement against those employers.
That this House supports workers at the housing charity Shelter in defending their terms and conditions and the service they provide to clients struggling with bad housing and homelessness; condemns the cuts to pay of up to £5,000 a year already implemented for new staff and threatened for existing staff which primarily affect the lowest-paid frontline service staff; disputes that Shelter must cut pay in order to compete for contracts; notes that the ability of staff to offer an excellent service is Shelter's strongest competitive advantage; further notes that cuts to pay will undermine Shelter's ability to recruit and retain the best staff; and calls on the management of Shelter to withdraw the proposals to cut pay for staff.

That this House acknowledges the excellent record of the housing campaign organisation Shelter over its 41-year history in campaigning to highlight the issues of homelessness in Britain; expresses its regret at the actions of Shelter's management in seeking to impose upon Shelter's dedicated staff cuts in pay, longer working hours and the undermining of conditions of employment; expresses its solidarity with Shelter's members of the Transport and General Workers' Union currently in dispute; and urges the board of directors to work co-operatively with the union to resolve this dispute amicably to enable Shelter to continue to play its invaluable role in our society.
