That this House notes that in the Sunday Times, 21st May 1995, according to the Prospero Direct Insurance Company's allegedly super-accurate new rating system, Villiers Close in Leyton is classified as the second worst street in Britain for crime; notes, however, that Superintendent W.J. Poulter, Divisional Commander of the Metropolitan Police, has conducted research on the incidence of crime in the area reported to the police and declared that he is confused as to why Villers Close has been singled out and stigmatised, suspecting that the criteria used by Prospero could relate to the value of claims and that a fire, such as had occured in Villiers Close, could seriously skew the data; notes that the allegation is not only untrue and a slur on the area but also that such false assessments results in residents unfairly having to face sky-high contents insurance bills; and calls for a Department of Trade and Industry investigation of this matter.
