To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what his planned timetable is to decide on the model for Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing supervisory reform.
The Treasury’s consultation on reforming the UK’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing supervisory regime closed in September 2023. The Department is continuing to analyse responses with the intention to announce a decision in due course as part of our commitment to reform the current supervision system and reduce economic crime.

The annual budget for the UK Action Against Corruption Programme in 2023-2024 was £5,921,089.
The projected budget for 2024-2025 is up to £6,685,000.

The International Corruption Unit (ICU) was not formed until 2015, so we do not hold any information prior to this date.
We are unable to disclose the number of staff employed in the ICU as that information is operationally sensitive. However, as of March 2024 the percentage of staff in the ICU, funded by the FCDO UK Action Against Corruption Programme, is 76%.
This is broadly comparable over the programme’s funding period.

Following the Treasury’s consultation on reforming the UK’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing supervisory regime which closed September 2023, the Government aims to respond in the coming months. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to respond to the consultation. The evidence we received reinforced the importance of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing supervision in reducing economic crime.

The UN's Fifth Committee (Administration and Budget) is a technical committee which applies appropriate resources to UN mandates and seeks agreement amongst the broadest possible consensus. The UK encourages budget discipline across the UN System and calls for the appropriate level of funding for agreed mandates.

Following the Autumn Statement announcement, the government is preparing to issue an invitation for interested organisations to tender, to tackle anti-semitism in schools, colleges, and universities. The department encourages all interested organisations to consider submitting a bid in response to the invitation to tender.

The Economic Crime (Anti-Money Laundering) Levy funding will be used over the next three years to benefit the entire anti-money laundering system in both the public and private sectors. This includes investing over £100 million in technology, funding for more skilled financial crime investigators, specialist intelligence teams, and the UK Financial Intelligence Unit. Additionally, it will fund a team to accelerate the reform of the AML supervisory supervision regime. In tandem, funding announced at Spending Review 2021 will continue to support reform of the Suspicious Activity Reports regime, reform of Companies House, and the work of HM Treasury's Illicit Finance Technical Assistance Unit (TAU).

A table showing the funding allocated to the general practice (GP) surgeries requested is attached, and is derived from the NHS Digital publication, ‘NHS Payments to General Practice’. This constitutes the majority of actual monies paid to the named GPs for all activities and costs during the financial years listed.
Practices may also receive payments via other funding streams which are currently not captured within the ‘NHS Payments to General Practice’ data publication. Some of these funding streams are from other organisations such as Local Authority Public Health Bodies, monies owed but not paid to individual practices, income from private services (including travel jabs and certificates) and local authorities investment from centrally led or procured elements of transformational investments, and investments by trusts in GP services in accident and emergency departments.
