That this House welcomes the decision of the Welsh Assembly Government to allow with conditions and without precedent the development of a new motorway junction near Llanilid in the Ogmore constituency; notes that this will enable the development of significant regeneration need; believes that the decision reflects well on the capability of the Labour-Liberal coalition in the Welsh Assembly Government to determine highly complex planning decisions; and calls on Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council, the developers and relevant agencies to ensure that the social, economic and environmental potential of the site development is now maximised.

That this House expresses its grave concern over the three days of chaos caused through the closure of the M4 motorway brought about by the removal of the Ingst bridge; and calls for a public inquiry to examine the reasons for the delay in the removal of the bridge and an estimate of the cost to the Welsh economy of the motorway closure and to examine the environmental aspects of re-routing traffic on a 70 mile diversion through small villages with the delay, noise, fumes and congestion that ensued.
