That this House congratulates the National Farmers' Union of Scotland and the Daily Record campaign to encourage people living in Scotland to buy Scottish products as farmers are facing severe difficulties and deserve the support of the community; and calls upon the Government to add its support by increasing support for hill farmers through the Hill Livestock Compensatory Allowances, accessing the funds available from Europe to compensate for the green pound revaluations and ensuring that our farmers can compete on a level playing field.

That this House expresses its very great concern at the news that the oil jacket fabrication contract in connection with the Britannia field development has been awarded to a Spanish yard; notes the great dismay which this news will bring to the communities across the Highlands and the North of Scotland which depend on the economic underpinning of the Brown & Root McDermott Fabricators yards at Nigg and Ardersier, respectively; and in respect of this and all other contracts, calls upon the Minister for Energy to ensure a properly policed level playing field with the European Single Market.

That this House notes the additional ??4 million made available to the Director of Passenger Rail Franchising in the Spring Supplementary Estimates; further notes that this sum is to help cover costs of professional advisers' fees incurred in connection with the Franchising Director's duties to designate railway passenger services as eligible for provision under franchise agreements; believes that it is indicative of the approach of both Government Ministers and the Director of Passenger Rail Franchising that, whereas extra funds can be made available for overruns in consultants' fees, a similar commitment cannot be found to maintain the Scottish sleeper and Motorail services over the summer period; and therefore calls upon the Diector of Passenger Rail Franchising to make available from his budget the resources to enable continuation of these services beyond May and to ensure a full and proper consultation process over their futures.
