To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of applying the measures included within the Strike (Minimum Service Levels) Bill to the (a) military and (b) police.
The Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill will ensure crucial public services such as rail, ambulance services, and fire services maintain a minimum service during industrial action, reducing risk to lives and livelihoods.
The Department is conducting an economic impact assessment of the Bill. This will be published shortly.
The Bill also sets out a requirement that Departments must consult widely before making minimum service regulations in a relevant area.
The sectors to which this legislation will apply to are named in the Bill. This does not include the military or the police.

The UK Government encourages Parties to report to the UNFCCC on all relevant emissions, including those from military sources, in line with UNFCCC best practice. The UK sets its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory in accordance with international guidelines and emissions from some military sources (e.g. aircraft and shipping) are already included.

The smart metering system has been designed in consultation with industry experts and the National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ), with a comprehensive security model at its heart. Smart meters only respond to communications that are sent securely by authorised organisations such as energy suppliers, rather than meter manufacturers.
Security risk assessment reviews are conducted on a regular basis and consider the range of certified devices used within smart metering, including the system resilience benefits that diversity of devices bring.

Since the invasion the Government has sanctioned over 1,400 individuals and businesses/entities. This includes 64 businesses with over 350 subsidiaries, and over 100 oligarchs with a combined wealth in excess of £198 billion under the Russia sanctions regime.

UKAS is appointed by Government as the National Accreditation Body for the United Kingdom to assess, against nationally and internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide conformity assessment services such as certification, testing, inspection, calibration and verification.
UKAS has stated they do not operate in Myanmar or provide accreditation services to companies owned by the Myanmar military. UKAS treats these matters very seriously and would investigate any such claims thoroughly.

Global Satellite Navigation Systems have a very wide range of uses and all of the current systems have clear civil, security and defence utility. The UK GNSS would offer additional capabilities for use by the Government including by the Ministry of Defence.
The UK Space Agency is leading the Engineering Design and Development Phase announced by my rt. hon. Friend the Prime Minister in August with the full support of the Ministry of Defence. This phase will develop plans for a possible UK system.
