The two objections to the permanent removal of the M4 bus lane were made by the London Borough of Hounslow and Clean Air for London. All users of the facility were given the opportunity to comment during the statutory consultation for the permanent removal of the bus lane, held between 29 March and 18 May 2012.
My hon. Friend is right to highlight the congestion on this junction, and I would be delighted to meet him and a delegation of his constituents to discuss it.

Junction 15 of the M4, in my constituency, is of vital regional and local importance to the economy, but is experiencing increased congestion. Will my right hon. Friend, or one of his ministerial colleagues, meet me and local representatives to discuss how we can alleviate this growing problem?

Future plans relating to the bus lane between junctions 3 and 2 of the M4 remain subject to the outcome of a statutory consultation about the permanent removal of the bus lane. The Highways Agency is in the process of reviewing two objections received prior to a decision being considered by the Secretary of State in 2013.
There have been no changes made to the geometry of the road between junctions 4 and 3. The speed limit reflects the existing road layout.
To ask Her Majesty’s Government when they intend to restore the 70 miles per hour speed limit on the M4 between junction 4 and Chiswick flyover. [HL2789]
To ask Her Majesty’s Government when they intend to restore the 70 miles per hour speed limit on the M4 between junction 4 and Chiswick flyover. [HL2789]
The Highways Agency currently has no plans to increase the existing speed limits on the M4 between Junction 4 and Junction 1. The reduced speed limit was introduced in 1999 due to the geometry of the road, and the reduction of three lanes to two lanes at the two lane elevated section. Following the suspension of the bus lane in November 2010 these factors have not changed.
