That this House believes that separated parents should each have a legal presumption of contact with their children, so that both parents can continue to parent their children and that any children are able to benefit from being parented by both their parents, as well as from contact with any grandparents and extended family members able and willing to play a role in their upbringing; and urges the Government to replace the legal term 'contact' with 'parenting time' and to ensure that parenting time orders can be and are made and enforced by the courts, save where a child's safety would be at risk.

That this House shares the concerns of the Royal British Legion regarding the qualification for a war pension pursuant to the provisions of the new Armed Forces Pension Scheme and compensation schemes, namely, that the change from the MoD being required to prove beyond reasonable doubt that any injury or illness was not caused as a result of time in service, to its being required only to meet a balance of probabilities test and the requirement that there should be a five-year time limit to claim a war pension after 2005 could, together, reduce successful claims for war pensions by up to 60 per cent.; and calls on the Government to review the application criteria for war pensions so that the interests of those military personnel who are injured in service are fully safeguarded.

That this House notes that 17th December marks the centenary of powered, sustained and controlled flight; congratulates the UK's aviation industry for playing a major role in both civil and military aviation during that period; believes that aviation is critical to the UK's prosperity; recognises that air travel is essential for business and economic success; realises that almost 180,000 people in the UK are directly employed by the industry and that well over half a million jobs depend on aviation; understands that much of our tourism industry depends on the availability of air travel; appreciates that people in more remote parts of the country require air services for essential journeys; applauds the industry for successfully competing in a deregulated market and opening up air travel to all through lower fares; and wishes the industry well in facing the challenges that need to be addressed as it enters its second centenary.

That this House supports and welcomes the commitment to clean, healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse oceans and seas outlined in the Government's first Marine Stewardship Report; is concerned, however, about the ever increasing pressure on the marine environment from coastal and offshore activities; believes that continued degradation threatens the long-term survival of internationally valuable habitats, wildlife and maritime archaeology; further believes that such degradation of the marine environment is detrimental to the economic activities dependent on marine resources; notes that the United Kingdom does not have a strategic and co-ordinated approach for managing our marine resources and for protecting our biological and cultural heritage; and calls on the Government to introduce at the earliest opportunity, comprehensive legislation to protect and manage the marine environment in an integrated and sustainable manner.
