Information on the Department's administration costs, including paybill, for years from 1999–2000 is given in the Departmental Annual Report 2005 (Cm 6524). The most recent Public Expenditure Outturn White Paper (Cm 6639) gives some provisional information on the 2004–05 outturn for departmental administration costs.Information for earlier years to 1997–98 is not available on a consistent basis, and information on the Department's running costs for those years is given at table 13.1 in the departmental report 2000–01 (Cm 4603).
