The four drivers remain on bail. They have provided the Home Office with up to date contact information, and we remain in contact with their legal representatives.

Fourteen Chinese nationals and eight Vietnamese nationals were removed to the Hook of Holland. The remaining 46 individuals - comprising Afghan (35), Chinese (8), Vietnamese (2) and Russian (1) nationality - have claimed asylum and are being processed within the asylum system. If their claims are not substantiated they will be expected to leave the UK, or will be forcibly removed. The four lorry drivers were arrested and bailed and are due to answer bail in November.

The Home Department uses the following inflation indexes for the following purposes:
(a) The retail price index (RPI) is used to calculate inflation driven price increases in contracts including those for PFI, rent and maintenance.
(b) The consumer price index (CPI) is used to calculate inflation driven price increases in contracts, including those for rent and maintenance. It is also used for Asylum subsistence payments.
(c) Other alternative measures of inflation issued by the Office of National Statistics can be used if RPI or CPI are not considered appropriate.
