Mr. Thurnham: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the latest annual figure for road traffic accidents involving
children; what was the European Union average per kilometre of road; and if he will rank the European Union countries in respect of
these figures. [6921]
Mr. Bowis: In 1995 there were 38,775 accidents in Great Britain which involved child casualties. The numbers of accidents involving
children are not available for member countries.
