Mr. Gale: To ask the Prime Minister if he will have discussions with France on their adherence to the European treaties that require
the free movement of goods between member countries of the European Union; and if he will make a statement. [57599]
The Prime Minister: Government Ministers, including myself, have made representations to France on the problems affecting the free
movement of goods through the channel tunnel. We remain in close contact with the French Government about the action that is
required to enable normal rail freight to resume.
The Commission has also invoked the Free Movement of Goods Regulation in this case and we are following this closely.
