Railways

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made of the Rail in the North proposals made by Integrated Transport Authorities.

[145643]

Answer

Following our consultation on Rail Decentralisation last year, 'Rail in the North' (RiN) submitted an expression of interest in taking responsibility for train services currently provided in the Northern and Trans Pennine Express franchises. Informal discussions are continuing at official level and we are currently expecting RiN to submit a detailed proposal later this year for our consideration.
