To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the answer of 3 September 2026, to Question 20860, on Foreign Influence Registration Scheme, what assessment her Department has made of whether hostile foreign actors are promoting Local Government Pension Scheme divestment in firms involved in the Trident nuclear deterrent or its renewal.

The Foreign Influence Registration Scheme (FIRS) strengthens the resilience of the UK's political system against covert foreign influence by increasing transparency around certain arrangements involving foreign powers.
Investment decisions associated with Local Government Pension Scheme funds are a matter for the administering authorities responsible for those schemes. Where activity is undertaken at the direction of the Russian or Iranian states to influence these decisions, this will need to be registered with FIRS.
