Mental Health Services

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what proportion of the additional funding for winter pressures was spent on mental health services in each year since 2013.

The Autumn budget provided the National Health Service with an additional £337 million of winter funding. Of this, up to £18 million was allocated for mental health services, such as providing additional liaison mental health staff to relieve pressure on accident and emergency units by identifying patients in need of specialist treatment and referring them to more appropriate care more quickly.
Specific funding for mental health services was not separately identified as part of winter funding for previous years, however these services will have benefitted from the provision of additional resources to support increased demand over the winter period.
