Proceeding contribution from Jonathan Edwards (Plaid Cymru) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 28 June 2011. It occurred during Debate on bill on Finance Bill.

Finance Bill

We have had a very interesting debate, although I find myself somewhat confused by the voting intentions of hon. Members. We will see in a few moments. I shall not press new clause 6 to a Division, because it proposes a permanent reduction in VAT. New clause 9, however, proposes a temporary reduction, no matter what Labour Front Benchers say, and I will press that to a Division. Those who do not join us in the Lobby for the Division on new clause 9 will not be able to say with any credibility that they oppose the January VAT increase. I beg to ask leave to withdraw the motion. Clause, by leave, withdrawn.
