To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what representations he has made to (a) international organisations and (b) non-governmental organisations concerning monitors for the forthcoming Iranian presidential elections.

Mr. Simmonds: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to (a) international organisations and (b) non-governmental organisations concerning monitors for the forthcoming Iranian presidential elections. [212069] Mr. MacShane: My right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary has not made any such representations. We hope the elections will be free and fair, in line with Iran's international obligations. We will follow closely the election arrangements, including the vetting of candidates.
