Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, whether health checks, as proposed in the forthcoming Health White Paper, will be (a) enhanced and (b) additional services under the new general practitioner contract; and what payments he plans for the service.

[197510] Miss Melanie Johnson: The Government published "Choosing health, making healthy choices easier", its White Paper on public health, today. National health service patients already have the right to request a health check-up from their general practitioner if they have not been seen by their GP in the previous three years. People aged 75 or over can request a check-up if they have not been seen by their GP in the previous year.
