Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what her policy is towards using open source software; and what percentage is used in her Department.
Answer

Brian White: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what her policy is towards using open source software; and what percentage is used in her Department. [69324] Dr. Howells: My Department selects software on the basis of value for money and how well it meets our business needs. Open source software will be reviewed against the same criteria and in line with the forthcoming Government policy on open source software due for publication this summer. At present, my Department does not use any open source software, though such software has been used in the past.
