Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what action police fraud specialists are taking in respect of the activities in the United Kingdom of fraudulent invention promoters.

Answer: Dr. Cable: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action police fraud specialists are taking in respect of the activities in the United Kingdom of fraudulent invention promoters. [57076] Mr. Boateng: Fraud is a criminal offence and the police investigate all complaints of this nature that are put to them. I am not aware of any inquiries currently being undertaken by central fraud squads into fraudulent invention promoters. Should evidence of criminal activity by such companies be drawn to the attention of the police, they will be investigated fully.
