Question: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, if his Department's nature conservation advisers observe a closed season of seven months on the issuing of licences to disturb or exclude badgers from their setts. - Inc ref to Protection of Badgers Act 1992.

Answer: Mr. Gale: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if his Department's nature conservation advisers observe a closed season of seven months on the issuing of licences to disturb or exclude badgers from their setts. [57553] Mr. Rooker: Although there is no provision for a closed season under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, the Ministry takes the badger breeding season into account when determining licence applications.
