Iraq

Question: To ask Her Majesty’s Government what discussions they have had with the Government of Iraq concerning the safety and welfare of the Palestinians remaining in Iraq.

Answer: The UK Government have not made specific representations to the Government of Iraq about the safety and welfare of Palestinians in Iraq. However, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office continues to urge the Iraqi Government to safeguard the rights and freedoms of all its citizens, particularly its vulnerable communities, and to provide adequate protection for refugees and internally displaced people across Iraq. We continue to co-operate with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, who is working closely with the Iraqi Government to find a durable solution for the remaining Palestinian refugees in Camp Al-Waleed near the Syrian border.
