- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many staff were employed by North Wales police in (a) 2006 and (b) 2007, broken down by function.

[holding answer 6 May 2008]: The data requested are published annually in the Home Office Statistical Bulletin series ““Police Service Strength, England and Wales”” and are given in the following table.
Police Service strength (FTE)¹ for North Wales police as at 31 March 2006 and 2007 31 March 2006 31 March 2007 Police officers 1,634 1,608 Police staff 882 759 Police community support officers 58 145 Designated officers 0 37 Traffic wardens 2 1 ¹ Full-time equivalent figures that have been rounded to the nearest whole number. Because of rounding there may be an apparent discrepancy between totals and the sums of the constituent items.
