Blood: Donors

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate his Department has made of the number of blood donations which would be made each year by gay men if they were not banned from giving blood.
Answer

It is not possible to give such an estimate. However, currently 4 per cent. of the total eligible population give blood.
