School Staff (Child Protection)

- To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills whether it is her policy to inform parents at the school involved when teachers are found to have indecent pictures of children on their computers.

[holding answer 7 February 2006]: The Department for Education and Skills expects employers to notify its List 99 team and the police as soon as possible after such an offence came to light. Any teacher convicted of this offence would be automatically barred.It is not the Department's policy to notify parents in such circumstances. This would be a decision for the governing body of the school.
