Children's Commissioners (Child Asylum Seekers)

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received from the Children's Commissioners in the United Kingdom on the impact of section nine of the Asylum and Immigration (Treatment of Claimants) Act 2004 on the welfare of children.

Answer: There have been no written representations received from any of the four children's commissioners in the United Kingdom on the impact of section nine of the Asylum and Immigration (Treatment of Claimants) Act 2004 on the welfare of children. The director general of the Immigration and Nationality Directorate, hosted a meeting in December with all four Children's Commissioners at which a number of matters were discussed including section nine.
