Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alistair Carmichael (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 1 April 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 22 members in total.

REGIONAL ADVISORY COUNCILS FOR FISH STOCKS

That this House notes that despite it now being more than three months since the EU Fisheries Council decided to establish regional advisory councils to manage fish stocks, there are still no concrete proposals for the constitution of these councils; contrary to the dilatory approach of the commissioner to this with the disgraceful haste with which it acted to impose draconian and unjustified cuts in whitefish quotas on the UK fishing fleets; and calls on the European Commission to come forward with concrete proposals to establish regional advisory councils as a matter of urgency.
